About

Welcome to DIYFolly — a little corner of the internet where creativity, real-life chaos, and cozy projects happily collide.

I’m Cynthia Dyer, the hands (and sometimes the glue-covered sleeves) behind DIYFolly. Years ago, this site was just a tiny blog I started after accidentally going viral on Facebook for a craft project that was supposed to be a rabbit-shaped Easter wreath… but looked more like a lopsided cloud wearing sunglasses. People loved it anyway, and friends kept telling me, “You should share more of your DIY disasters—I mean, creations!”

Before DIYFolly, I worked a regular 9-to-5 job and unwound by making things—crochet blankets, thrift-store flips, little home decor touches, simple woodworking projects, anything I could squeeze in between work and family life. One year, after a last-minute holiday gift emergency, I crocheted five scarves in two days and realized just how much I loved creating with my hands. My family still reminds me of the year every gift was “some form of yarn.”

As the blog grew, I started posting the kinds of things I naturally did around the house—easy DIY crafts, kids’ projects for rainy afternoons, simple sewing fixes, backyard ideas for warmer months, and occasionally a comforting recipe when crafting turned into cooking (or when I forgot the oven was on while painting a picture frame).

Everything here is made with real life in mind. I’m not a professional decorator, carpenter, or chef—I’m just someone who loves making things feel a little homier, brighter, and more personal. The projects I share are the same ones I do in my own house: budget-friendly, beginner-safe, and forgiving enough that you can mess up once or twice and still end up with something you’re proud of.

You’ll find a mix of DIY crafts, home decor ideas, crochet and sewing guides, outdoor projects, kids’ crafts, and a handful of simple, comforting recipes that come straight from my everyday routine. My goal isn’t perfection—it’s giving you ideas and inspiration that you can actually use.

I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re crafting, decorating, stitching, experimenting, or just browsing for your next project, I hope DIYFolly feels like a friendly place to land.

Let’s make something good—one small, imperfect, joy-filled project at a time.
